Jet engine
In the jet engine there is no propeller. When the hot exhaust
gases have passed through the turbine they are channelled into a narrow nozzle that makes
them come out of the back of the engine at high speed.
This high speed jet of gas moving in one
direction gives the engine a velocity in the opposite direction. The greater the velocity of the
exhaust gases the greater the velocity of the plane.
As in the turboprop the exhaust
gases turn the compressor, the motion of the plane drives more air in.
